What I Would Buy Again on Black Friday — And What I Plan to Buy This Year

Let’s be honest: we all love a good discount. And even though November bombards us with endless “unmissable” offers, the end of the month is still the best time to make meaningful purchases.

To stay sane — and save my money — I completely ignored all the discount emails, messages, and ads I’ve been exposed to since the beginning of the month. Nothing compares to the real Black Friday deals retailers offer at the end of November and even on the 1st of December.

I’m a minimalist when it comes to shopping, and especially when the investment is higher, I like to do my research before making the big decision. Here’s what I bought last year on Black Friday: items I truly recommend and would happily buy again.

iRobot

I did so much research on this little guy. I asked friends who have similar models, watched online reviews, and even contacted a lovely lady I follow on Instagram to ask if she was happy with hers.

I finally decided to order one when we moved into the new apartment, which is bigger and has lots of space that needs vacuuming.

Once I knew I needed this robot in my life, the next question was whether to get the model with the mop. Because we have wooden floors, I wasn’t sure it was suitable. That’s where the Instagram lady convinced me: she has wooden floors, two kids, and a cat — so her recommendation came from experience very similar to mine.

I bought it on Amazon with a 30% discount, which was a significant saving given its price.

One year later, I have to admit that I love it. The energy and time it saves are priceless. I use it in the living room, hallways, and main bedroom — areas with enough open space for it to work its magic. I don’t use it much in the girls’ rooms since they’re smaller and often have toys or other objects on the floor.

To maximize its efficiency, keep in mind that it needs regular attention and cleaning.

Philips Steam Station

I hate ironing and will do anything to make it easier. When I tried this steam station at a friend’s house, I knew I needed it in my life. It’s so easy to use, irons very well, and works fast. I can’t say it made me enjoy ironing, but it definitely made it more bearable — time goes by faster now.

What I Have on My List for 2025

Instant Pot

I haven’t decided on the exact model yet, but after reading several reviews, I know I’ll get the simple version (not the one with an integrated air fryer). It’s on my list because I cook every day, and anything that promises faster and tastier dishes needs to be mine.

A Whole Leg of Jamón Ibérico

Owning a big piece of jamón has been a dream of mine ever since moving to Barcelona, but I either didn’t have the space or the budget. Since it’s a bigger investment, I added it to my 2025 list. There’s so much variety out there, so I’m still doing my research — I’ll keep you posted on the final choice.

Legend says this ham is so deeply rooted in Spanish culture that even vegetarians might occasionally give in to a slice. I’ll also need a special knife and a ham holder… and definitely something to protect it from my cat, who will surely go crazy over the smell.
